Growing up as a teenager in Texas I was given a little Kodak 110 film camera for Christmas one year and off I ran into my life of photography! I got my first semi professional camera 30 years ago and my photography went from photographing friends and family then into senior pictures, graduations, family portraits, engagement pictures then into weddings. Finding myself not completely satisfied that I hadn’t hit my full potential I took my first trip to Yellowstone National Park, there I saw my first grizzly bear cub and found my happiness in photographing wildlife to its extreme. I took a big leap of faith and moved myself from Dallas Texas to West Yellowstone Montana, the West Entrance to Yellowstone National Park. My photography took off lightning fast as I experienced so much wildlife encounters, learning and growing from those experiences, then realizing I needed to lengthen my reach on my lenses where I got my first long range zoom lens and growing through the years that I expanded my gear to reach the potential I wanted that I share in my photos today.

I’m an artist using graphite pencil and oil based colored pencils on paper and wood. I also do pyrography and wood carving. I picked up illustrating by watching my father as he would doodle. I would draw what he drew the next thing I knew there was an actual drawing on the paper. I have expanded my illustrating skills from illustrating pets, wildlife and people portraits all in pencil. I also have a background in architectural drafting and design.

While photographing the wildlife of the vast Yellowstone Ecosystem I spent a lot of time in a grizzly bear sanctuary where I had hands on experiencing with the grizzly bears and fell absolutely in love with those amazing animals, learning to respect and appreciate the powerful nature of these beasts and spending countless hours photographing them in their surroundings. I was given the opportunity to learn from the best at that sanctuary and something I’ll take with me the rest of my life. So much to where I know the names and identifying numbers of many of these bears.

In turn of the great grizzly bear photography I so enjoy doing there are so many more amazing wildlife critters to photograph and again after countless hours of being in the field and photographing them I’m here to share those experiences with you as well.
